SBIVM team is currently co-managing a total of four (4) venture capital & private equity funds with total fund size of nearly USD 220 million since establishment.
VT-SBI Fund, an early to mid-stage fund of USD 18 million founded by SBIVM and VentureTECH Sdn Bhd (100% subsidiary of Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology), was launched in February 2022 to predominantly support startups in the high value-added and emerging industry market segments to scale up to their full potential, contribute positive socio-economic impact to Malaysia and subsequently grow to compete at the regional level.
OSK-SBI Funds are growth to late-stage fund founded by SBIVM and OSK Ventures International Berhad (“OSKVI”) that dedicate growth capital investments to leading technology companies. To-date, there are two (2) OSK-SBI Funds being co-managed by SBIVM and OSKVI.
The maiden fund (“1st Fund”) was established in September 2018 with a total fund size of USD 20 million. Since inception, the 1st Fund has grown its investment portfolios to include prominent technology companies within ASEAN region that constantly delivers sustainable growth in fast-growing sectors such as healthcare, insurance, and logistics.
The newly setup second fund (“2nd Fund”) in August 2023 will focus on providing growth capital to companies across ASEAN region that propel impactful technology-based solutions in high demand sectors mainly in financial services, healthcare, education, ESG, B2B and emerging technologies. The first close of the 2nd Fund is USD 20 million with target final close of USD 40 million.

Launched in October 2016, SBI Islamic Fund II is a USD 60 million private equity Shariah-compliant fund (“Fund”) that focuses on late-expansion stage, pre-IPO and IPO deals in diversified sectors with emphasis in ASEAN. The Fund is the second fund co-managed by SBIVM and Ministry of Finance and Economy Brunei.
SBI Islamic Fund I was established in 2010 with a fund size of SGD 75 million and has invested in companies with proven operation and financial track records in the ASEAN region. This is the first fund co-managed by SBIVM and Ministry of Finance and Economy Brunei.
The Fund is an USD 50 million joint venture fund established in December 2009 between SBI Holdings, Inc. and Permodalan Nasional Berhad which focused on private equity investment in companies across ASEAN and East Asian regions.

Has been with SBI group over 13 years. Prior to joining SBI Ventures Malaysia, he was with SBI Ven Capital in Singapore (2018-2020; SBI Group Southeast Asia regional headquarter / early-stage VC firm) as the Vice President.
Prior to joining SBI Ven Capital, he was with the Overseas Business Department in Tokyo headquarter, where he handled global strategic partnership deals and monitored the group’s strategic investments across Southeast Asia, Middle-East and Europe.
VentureTECH-SBI
Ventured into the VC/PE scene in early 2009 and since then, has been dedicated himself into growth capital investment activities with the aspiration to spurs the local technology industry.
Started his career at HSBC Securities which later moved into a local VC firm, Kumpulan Modal Perdana (KMP) as an Investment Analyst. Thereafter, he joined Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) in 2014 and had slowly transformed the focus of one of the fund managed, from being a pure developmental fund to a well-balanced objective fund where ROI is heavily taken into consideration. He played a crucial role in the team in term of improving the funds’ return multiple. Last position held in MTDC was Senior Vice President of the Fund Management division.
Within 14 years of being involved quite actively in the industry, he has been exposed to various technology related industries such as semiconductor, digital platform, robotic & automation and other industry 4.0 related industries, established a well-rounded network that able to support each of his investment plan from origination to exit and acquired directorship experiences in private and also public listed companies.
He received his education from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in the field of Finance and Investment Analysis.

OSK-SBI
Mark joined OSK-SBI Venture Partners in 2019 and has led all of its investments to date in addition to being responsible for all fund management activities. He previously served as Deputy General Manager (Retail & Innovation) in Berjaya Corporation where he led investments into technology startups and oversaw corporate development projects. Prior to that, he led investments while serving with COPE Partners, a leading private equity firm based in Kuala Lumpur. Mark had a stint in investment banking during his time with Maybank Investment Bank where he advised clients on IPOs, M&As and equity fundraisings. Mark also serves as a director and investor representative on the boards of various portfolio companies of OSK-SBI.
SBI Brunei
Tan Yeet Chien began his career with RHB Investment Bank Berhad’s Corporate Finance in 2013 and then moved to Maybank Investment Bank Berhad’s Client Coverage. Notable deals completed were the divestment by Genting Malaysia Berhad of its equity stakes in Genting Hong Kong Limited and unrated bond issuance by Sunway REIT. After spending about 4.5 years in investment banking, he joined Khazanah Nasional Berhad as Assistant Vice President in 2017, which marked his first buyside/ investment experience. Subsequently, for the next 6 years, he has always been in the PE/VC space, leading the investment activities of a family office private equity fund and a Securities Commission Malaysia’s licensed private equity firm, which both focus on deals in Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Deals completed included private equity investments in a pre-IPO artificial intelligence video surveillance company in China and a digital lending Fintech company in Hong Kong. He also managed to execute a divestment via block trade sale which yielded a net IRR of 20.6%. He has a combined experience of more than 12 years within the investment banking and PE/VC industry. He was a Malaysia Government (JPA) scholar and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (major in Actuarial Science, Finance and Risk Management) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
