Having established in Malaysia since 2011, SBI Ventures Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“SBIVM”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBI Holdings, Inc. (Japanese financial conglomerate listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange: 8473), is a venture capital & private equity firm that focuses on investing into leading technology companies in the ASEAN region. We have proven track record by partnering with Government ministry/ agencies and well-established local public listed company in ASEAN region to invest in technology companies and subsequently contribute to their growth.

Taichi Kato

Managing Director

Has been with SBI group over 5 years. Prior to joining SBI Ventures Malaysia, he was with SBI Investment which is the largest Japanese VC firm in terms of AUM in Tokyo headquarters and handled both domestic and overseas investments especially in ASEAN and India.
 
Prior to joining SBI group, he was with a management consulting firm and a bank for over ten years. Has plenty of experience of finance, investment and strategy.

Tan Yeet Chien

Director

Has a combined experience of more than 13 years in investment banking with RHB IB & Maybank IB covering Malaysia’s conglomerates and PE/VC in Khazanah, MST PE (licensed PEMC) and SBI Ventures Malaysia.

He was a Malaysia Government (JPA) scholar and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (major in Actuarial Science, Finance and Risk Management) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Julie Chen

VP, Finance

Has been with SBI Ventures Malaysia for over 8 years, responsible for middle and back-end operations in fund management, including accounting and capital planning.

Brings over 16 years of experience in Finance, spanning across the retail and F&B industries.

Najmi Aidil

Associate

Has over 3 years’ experience in a boutique VC firm in Malaysia (licensed VCMC), investing in early-stage startups across Southeast Asia. 

He was a Yayasan Peneraju (YPPB) scholar and is currently an ACCA Affiliate member.
